Home in the Cold - Countdown Sequence initiated

Well the countdown is on now to the main event which is us leaving the country properly - ie: both of us, and in the same direction. We are flying out of Auckland on Sun July 29 around lunchtime all things going according to plan!

In the meantime the packing is stepping up in major proportions. Hopefully the ideological decision to travel light is not going to come crashing down around our ears at this early stage although (Michaela speaking for herself only here) there may have to be some serious innovation undertaken in the process. Shaun has nobly offered to contribute his hair to the cause of travelling light - hopefully the results will be recorded on this blog once we hit Singapore. Hope to see as many friends and family as possible before we get on the plane - if not you are very welcome to come and stay in London! M

Anchorage home of the kinky salmon

Greetings from Anchorage, where salmon is king. There is a creek running through the middle of town here where you can find clumps of salmon fishermen casting lines under what looks like a motorway overbridge. There are also weird tarted up salmon statues all over town. (Punk Salmon, Pimped up Salmon, etc - they even have names.)

Tomorrow - my last day here - I'm off on a boat trip to watch glaciers calving into the sea which should be good. Then I am on a plane home and looking forward to it. Hope you are all well and looking forward to catching up with as many of you as I can soon. M
